Tortilla Sandwich
What is it? A mixture of the Mexican and American heritage which once fused together creates the culture I grew up with. A culture where I watched every India Maria movie, my hero was El Chapulin Colorado, I had atole for breakfast, yet at the same time I never missed an episode of Saturday Night Live, my favorite meal was mom's meatloaf and I dreamed of being in the Ramones.

Its not good

Ok, as many of you may have noticed, when it comes to editing my blog, well... my abilities are not so hot. I need to work on that. I am much better at noticing my mistakes when I write for a newspaper or school assignment.

I don't know why I have not taken the same care for my writing here, consider this blog the red-headed stepchild of my creativity.

I want to ensure that all 3 of my regulars continue to visit my little home in cyberspace here (gosh I promised myself never to use that term "cyberspace", ewww, now I must shower). Anyhow, I am making an extreme effort to improve.

Helping me along the way is The Apostrophe Protection Society. According to the website their goal is "preserving the correct use of this currently much abused punctuation mark in all forms of text written in the English language."

I'm not so bad at apostrophes, my weakness, is commas, really, believe me.

Although I am dyslexic, I never use it as excuse, sure I write some phrases or words backwards now and then, but as long as I am careful and review my work carefully, I do just fine. I don't think that's the reason why I write so horribly here.

My main problem is that when I write a blog, I immediately post it, no spell check, no edits, I need to see my new post right away! It is like some sick type of instant gratification. Then hours later, when I come back to read my posts, I have my Homer Simpson "doh!" moment. Oh, I used "their" instead of "there". Or I typed "by" when I meant "my".

Another thing, I use the word "like" too much, like in a Valley Girl type of way, like that totally is lame, isn't it?

Hahaha..good one, I haven't heard that one in a while either! It's good to know there is someone else that can relate to this, someone who also likes to write. You don't know how many strange looks I've received when I mention to people that I'm dyslexic, and a writer...they kinda laugh, like I'm joking. That's why I don't tell many people anymore, except for now, I sorta told everyone...heh.

So you write for the newspaper too, eh? Writing a post for your blog is a 'personal' affair, so I guess unedited work is perfectly alright. Feel free to post your views at my blog.
