What were you doing the morning of September 11, 2001?
I remember the day vividly. My sister and I had just been in NYC at the beginning of August, so we were still, as the song says, in a new york state of mind. That morning the phone rang, waking me up. It was my mom asking me if I heard what was going on over in New York City. I had no clue what she was talking about, so I walked over to the tv, turned it on, and the world was never the same after that. I sat and watched as a second plane flew into the World Trade Center, I sat and watched as Peter Jennings announced that a plane had crashed into the Pentagon, I sat and watched as the announcement about the plane crash in Pennyslvania came in, I sat and watched as the Twin Towers fell down, I sat and watched as America was attacked.

I was brushing my teeth getting ready to go to work when my mom gave me the phone -it was my assignment's editor telling me to turn on the t.v. then i saw. my orders were to rush to the mcallen airport, do a live shot, and get some reactions. it was a rough day. i called my friend because we had planned a trip to nyc. he told me his sister worked in the 2nd tower. she was in the bathroom when she heard the first crash. she ran out and made it out safely. but he didn't know that at the time, so when i talked to him, he was still shaken.
I was getting ready for work, and decided to turn on the tv so my son could watch pokemon while I was doing my hair...and instead i get live footage of this hijacked plane...and then the plane hit the first tower....and then the second while I was trying to get my son dressed. It was gut wrenching. At the time, I was working for the local government and just going into work was terrifying. Everyone was a wreck, the whole building was on maximum security. People everywhere were crying...and contemplating where would be next.
